PROJECT OVERVIEW

Couture Studio is a new luxury flooring showroom located on Veteran’s Parkway in northeast Sioux Falls. The 17,000-square-foot building brings together a large open showroom, six offices, a 4,000-square-foot two-story warehouse, two tenant spaces, and supporting back-of-house areas. The goal was to create a space that feels elevated and intentional - one that reflects the quality of the products while supporting daily operations behind the scenes.

SETTING THE VISION

Couture Studio’s new showroom was envisioned as more than a retail space. It was designed to be an experience. Flooring is tactile and visual, and the space housing those products plays a major role in how customers perceive quality and value. From day one, the vision centered on creating a showroom that feels like home, but still functions as a showroom and working environment.

Ultimately, the building expertly balances the customer-facing experience with operational needs, which was a key driver throughout the planning and layout process.

DESIGING FOR EXPERIENCE

One of the biggest design challenges with product-driven retail spaces is ensuring materials are experienced in the best possible light. For Couture Studio, ceiling height and daylighting were intentionally prioritized in the showroom design. Tall volumes allow the space to breathe, while natural light helps reveal true color, texture, and finish across flooring materials - something that can’t be fully replicated with artificial lighting alone.

The open layout was carefully planned to feel welcoming and easy to navigate, without overwhelming the customer. Clear circulation paths, thoughtful product display zones, and visual connection across the showroom create a space that encourages exploration while still feeling organized and calm.

DESIGN THAT SUPPORTS GROWTH

Beyond aesthetics, the building was designed to support Couture Studio’s day-to-day operations and long-term growth. The integration of office space, warehouse functions, and tenant suites creates flexibility for the business to evolve over time, while maintaining a strong, customer-facing presence at the front of the building.

The result is a space that works on multiple levels: a bright, refined showroom experience for customers, and a functional, efficient back-of-house environment for staff and operations. The completed project demonstrates how intentional architectural design can elevate a brand, improve the customer experience, and create a foundation that supports business growth well beyond opening day.

Your space could also have this much thought and intention poured into it. Ready to get started?
